1 Day, Children ages 3 - 7

Itinerary suggestions based on First-Time, Beginner Skiers and Snowboarders.

• Follow signs to River Run Village / skier parking and park in the free Montazuma parking lot.
•Determine a family meeting space, in case anyone gets separated. Zip an ID card  into each child's pocket.

• 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Head up Dercum Mountain  via the River Run Gondola to the beginner area. Scout and Endeavor are great, short runs to get first-timers accustomed to skiing in a "V" and allow first-time riders to perfect their "falling leafs." Make laps together on Endeavor, which can be accessed by a surface lift (aka a "magic carpet"). Mom and Dad can alternate making solo runs down intermediate trails Bachelor, Flying Dutchman, Wild Irishman, and taking the Montezuma Express lift back to Summit House to check on the progress.

• 10:30-11:00 a.m. Take a break in the Mountain House to use the bathroom, use the mitten / glove dryers, warm up with hot chocolate, and eat a hearty snack.

• 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
If your first-timer is able to stay in control, make turns and - most importantly - stop, head over to the Schoolmarm run, which is a long green run down to the Mountain House base area. If they're not quite ready for a long run, head back over to Endeavor and Scout.

• 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
Enjoy lunch at the Mountain House food court. While you give little legs a chance to rest, Mom and Dad can take turns heading up the Peru Express lift and coming down Last Hoot, which is an advanced black run.

• 2:00 - 3:30  p.m.
Take the family up the Peru Express lift and ski your way over to Schoolmarm via Freda's Incubator. (Freda's Incubator is a green run that cuts through the A51 Terrain Park - so keep a close eye on little ones and avoid jump lines and the bases of features.)

• 3:30-4:00 p.m.
Ski your way back to River Run Village by following Ina’s Way, which splits off to the right of Schoolmarm.

If mom or dad want to ski more, they can take turns making runs past sunset - Keystone's night skiing is open until 9 p.m. most nights so you can get your fill of skiing and snowboarding.

• 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Dinner at Paisanos Italian Restaurant  in River Run

• 6:30 -7:00 p.m.   – Pick up your tubing tickets at the Keystone Logo Shop in River Run and get on the gondola for your 7:00 p.m. tubing session.

• 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Tubing  at Adventure Point atop Dercum Mountain (reservations required, call 970-496-4FUN )

Call 970-496-4FUN for dining and activity information and reservations.  This is a sample itinerary, please do not ski or snowboard the trails mentioned unless you feel you are of the intermediate or advanced level to handle the terrain.
