Itinerary suggestions based on Intermediate to Advanced Skiers and Snowboarders. Suggestions for parents are for the average guest, but we know some of you are rockstars and can keep up with your teens. Do what you feel comfortable with.
Arrival Day:
3 p.m. Pick up rentals
4 p.m. Check into condo
5 p.m. Pick up or buy lift tickets
6-9 p.m. Start you vacation with some night skiing (offered most nights except Monday and Tuesday)
Day 1
Determine a meeting space go through the safety rules.
• 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. enjoy fresh tracks. The first mountain, Dercum Mountain, offers great groomed runs to get you warmed up. Good warm up runs:
o Beginners – Schoolmarm and Silver Spoon
o Intermediates – Spring Dipper and Paymaster
o Terrain Park – The Incubator Park is located off Schoolmarm next to the A51 terrain park. The
Incubator is the beginner park and accesses the A51 lift.
• 10-11:30 a.m. Explore Dercum Mountain
Parents: make some laps on Dercum Mountain’s mid mountain lift the Montezuma Express.
o Intermediate Trails – Frenchman, Wild Irishman, Flying Dutchman. Hoo Doo and Bachelor are
good intermediate bump runs.
Teens: go hit the terrain park and lap the A51 lift.
o Remember to scout the features before attempting them. If you have mastered the small features in
the Incubator try the medium features on the Park Lane line.
• 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Beat the rush and take a break for lunch at the Summit House located at the top of the River Run Gondola.
• 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Explore North Peak
Parents: Head back to North Peak, the second mountain. Let lunch settle and take the Outpost Gondola back to North Peak.
Teens: Take the Mozart trail down to the Santiago lift. Take it to the peak and then head down to the gondola and meet your parents.
o Prospector trail is directly under the gondola and is a great groomed run to kick off your afternoon.
o Intermediate Trails: Santa Fe and Starfire – this is where the U.S. Alpine Team trains early season
• 2-2:30 p.m.
Parents: Hot Chocolate Break – Sit by the roaring fireplace at The Outpost lodge over by the Outpost Gondola for a break.
Teens: Try one of the famous bump runs on North Peak. Take Starfire down to Bullet. Meet the parents back at the Outpost.
• 2:30-3:30 p.m. Ski your way back to the front mountain. Take Prospector trail down to Ruby chairlift. Finish up your afternoon on your favorite run from the morning or teens head back to the park. Pay attention to signs so you end up at the right base area – either River Run or Mountain House. To get to River Run: The River Run trail gets busy after 2:30 p.m. To avoid this take Frenchman down to Dercum’s Dash then to Bear Tree and then Ina’s Way.
o Take the gondola down – If your crew is tired and you want to avoid the afternoon rush of getting off the mountain you can ride the River Run gondola down to River Run Village.
• 4-6 p.m. Do some stretches and relax at the condo. Take a load off or take a nap, you deserve it.
• 6-7:30 p.m. Dinner at Big Horn Steakhouse in the Keytone Lodge (reservations recommended)
• 7:30 – 9 p.m. Ice skating and hockey on Keystone Lake, the largest zamboni maintained rink in North America
Day 2
• 10 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Meet your Ski and Ride School instructor and take a private lesson. Receive a guided tour of Keystone for your family or friends – up to six people. This is a great way to work on your skills and find some of the best areas of Keystone. (Reservations required. Call 970-496-4170.)
• 3:30- 5 p.m. relax at your condo.
• 5:-6:30 p.m. Dinner at Paisanos Italian Restaurant in River Run
• 6:30 - 7 p.m. Pick up your tubing tickets at the Keystone Logo Shop in River Run and get on the gondola for your 7 p.m. tubing session.
• 7-8 p.m. Tubing at Adventure Point atop Dercum Mountain (reservations required call 970-496-4FUN)
Day 3
• 9 – 10:30 a.m. Enjoy fresh groomers back to The Outback - Frenchman warm up on Dercum, Mozart to Santiago lift, Anticipation to the Outback Express and Elk Run on the Outback.
• 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Get some fresh tracks by catching a ride on The Outback Cat Shuttle for $5 (cash only) to the top of North Bowl and South Bowl. Ski some of the tree run runs in The Outback and practice your new skills learned from your lesson. The Outback Express makes for a good meeting place if you ski in the trees. It’s easy to lose each other so always ski with a buddy. If you’re not comfortable in the trees Elk Run and Porcupine are great groomers so your group can meet at The Outback Express.
• 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Take the Wayback chair to the top of North Peak and have lunch at The Outpost.
• 12:30-2 p.m. Go back to The Outback for more fun.
• 2 - 3 p.m. Head back to Dercum Mountain. From the Outback take the Wayback chair to Prospector run on North Peak to Ruby chairlift to Frenchman on Dercum Mountain. Teens could go hit the park and meet parents at the room later.
• 3-5 p.m. Relax in the room.
• 5 p.m. Parents night out
Parents: Enjoy a romantic dinner featuring Colorado cuisine at The Ski Tip Lodge, the original stagecoach stop of Keystone.
Teens: Check out the hot tubs or pools of your condo or sit around the fireplace in River Run Village. Have a pizza delivered from Pizza 101(970-262-0200).
Day 4
• 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. Get out and enjoy the fresh tracks or teens can head to the park.
• 12 -1 p.m. Enjoy lunch on the deck of Kickapoo in River Run Village
• 1-3 p.m. Take mid-day break and enjoy the hot tubs and pools of the condo
• 4 -7 p.m. Get back out on the mountain for the fresh tacks of night skiing and snowboarding on Dercum Mountain and in the A51 terrain park. Watch the sunset from on top of the mountain. Don’t forget your camera.
• 7 p.m. Head over for dinner and fun at the Haywood Café along Hwy 6 in the Gateway Plaza. Parents can catch up on sports and teens can play the arcade.
Day 5
• 9 – 11:30 a.m. Enjoy your favorite runs for one last day.
• 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Enjoy some of the finest on-mountain BBQ at Labonte’s Cabin next to the Ruby and Santiago chairlift.
• 12:30-3 p.m. Continue getting your fill of skiing and riding.
• 3-5 p.m. Relax at the condo
• 5 -5:45 p.m. Head to the gondola for your 5:45 dinner reservations at Der Fondue Chessel located in The Outpost on the top of North Peak Mountain.
• 5:45 – 7:30 p.m. Dinner at Der Fondue Chessel – Enjoy Keystone’s finest cheese and chocolate fondue while dancing along to the Bavarian band. Great for all ages. (Reservations Required call 970-496-4FUN)
