Recycling

• Keystone recycles more than 1,000 tons per year.
• Recycling 1 aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for 4 hours.
• 5 2-liter plastic bottles can be recycled into the insulation for a winter jacket.
• Keystone makes compost (rich, fertilizing dirt) by mixing fruit and vegetable scraps with sawdust.

Energy

• Keystone buys enough wind energy to offset 100% of our electricity use each year.
• The pollution prevented by Keystone buying wind energy is equal to preventing the pollution created by 18,000 cars in 1 year.
• Keystone uses compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in many locations. CFLs use one-fourth the energy of a traditional light bulb, and last up to 10 times longer.
• If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.
